In a collaborative effort between Bangladesh Extension Education Services (BEES) and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), a heartwarming initiative unfolded on January 23, 2024, at the Nayanshri Union Parishad Hall Room in Nawabganj Upazila of Dhaka District. The mission was clear: to enhance the lives of underprivileged senior citizens. A distribution ceremony orchestrated by BEES aimed to provide warmth and mobility, offering blankets to 75 seniors and wheelchairs to two elderly individuals.
The Chairman of Nayanshri Union, Mr. Md. Palash Chowdhury, was actively involved, personally handing over blankets to the elderly recipients. The event also witnessed the presence of Mr. Md. Manjurul Islam, Head of Micro-Finance, and Dr. Nusrat Jahan, Senior Assistant Director (Health) and Focal Person for the Enrich Programme.
During the ceremony, Mr. Md. Manjurul Islam shed light on the diverse health, education, and social development initiatives undertaken by BEES for the socio-economic advancement of the country’s underprivileged. He emphasized the commitment to working alongside these communities to enhance the quality of life for the elderly. Mr. Md. Palash Chowdhury, Chairman of Nayanshri Union, extended sincere thanks to BEES for implementing such a thoughtful program and pledged full cooperation. Dr. Nusrat Jahan, joined by senior committee members, urged all union members to collaborate for the welfare of senior citizens.
The event, skillfully moderated by Mr. Md. Ferdous Ali, Health Officer of the Business Development Programme, saw the participation of various dignitaries, including Mr. Haridas Sarkar, President of the Senior Union Committee, and Mr. Mizanur Rahman Mizan, General Secretary of Union Awami League, Nayanshri. Mr. Mostafizur Rahman Milan, Coordinator for Business Prosperity and Senior Program, and Mr. Fazlul Rahman, Zonal Manager of BEES, along with other officials, added their presence to the occasion.
