Executive Director
Mr. Iqbal Ahammed is a highly experienced development professional with more than three decades of experience in microfinance, organizational leadership, and social development. He served as the Executive Director (CEO) of Padakhep Manabik Unnayan Kendra (PMUK) from 1997 to 2019, leading its transformation from a small, resource-constrained organization into one of Bangladesh’s largest and most successful NGO-MFIs with nationwide operations.
Since 2020, Mr. Ahammed has been serving BEES, and in 2022 he assumed the role of Executive Director (ED). Under his strategic leadership, BEES has experienced significant institutional growth and operational strengthening, earning recognition as one of the top 10 NGO-MFIs in Bangladesh. He has been instrumental in expanding microfinance outreach while reinforcing BEES’s holistic development approach across agriculture, health, education, energy, nutrition, gender, and social protection.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Ahammed worked with the World Bank, Social Marketing Company (SMC), and PIACT Bangladesh in senior technical and research roles, and served as a consultant to organizations such as the Asian Development Bank and the European Commission. He holds an MS in Applied Statistics from the University of Dhaka and has received numerous national and international awards for his contributions to microfinance innovation, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development.
