On the occasion of the 2023 Sheikh Russell Day in Sunamganj, various initiatives were undertaken by the Bangladesh Extension Education Services (BEES) in the Shantiganj upazila of Sunamganj district to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In celebration of this day, on the morning of October 18, 2023, BEES staff offered floral tributes at a portrait of Sheikh Russell in the premises of the Shantiganj Upazila Parishad. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Sukanto Saha, Upazila Executive Officer, Shantiganj Upazila; Mr. Nur Hossain, Vice Chairman, Shantiganj Upazila Parishad; Mr. Dulon Rani Talukdar, Women Vice Chairman, Shantiganj Upazila Parishad; Mr. Shitangshu Sekhar Dhar Sito, President, Jaykalas Union Parishad; and Mr. Nilu Kant Pal, Program Officer, BEES.
Subsequently, at 11 AM, a drawing and essay competition was held at the Shibpur Government Primary School, with the active participation of students. At the end of the competition, awards were distributed to the winners.
The event concluded with the distribution of meals among underprivileged children.
It’s worth noting that BEES has been implementing educational programs in seven different unions of Shantiganj upazila since 2018.
