BEES Celebrates the 74th Birth Anniversary of Martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal

In a heartwarming tribute to the courageous sports organizer, freedom fighter, and eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal, Bangladesh Extension Education Services (BEES) organized a series of events in Shantiganj Upazila of Sunamganj district. Commemorating his 74th birth anniversary, the organization held multiple programs on 5 August 2023.

The day commenced at 10 am in the Shantiganj Upazila Parishad Square, where teachers of BEES Education program, Program Officer (Education and Social Safetynet Program) of BEES and other elites paid their respects to the illustrious leader, Captain Sheikh Kamal by laying wreaths on his portrait. The ceremony was attended by esteemed personalities, including Shantiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Anwar Uj Jaman, Upazila Chairman Mr. Faruq Ahmed, Vice-Chairman Mr. Noor Hossain, Ms. Dulan Rani Talukdar, SMC Committee members, Union Parishad Chairman, members along with all the respected teachers from BEES Education Program.

The events started with the National Anthem of Bangladesh, followed by Quran recitation, Geeta recitation and a welcome speech by the Head Teacher of Mahmudpur Non-government Primary School, Ms. Jharna Begum. The valued special guests who joined this program were: The landowner of Mahmudpur Non-government Primary School Md. Saijuddin, UP member Mr. Azir Uddin, President of the Managing Committee of Mahmudpur Non-government Primary School Mr. Shiblu Uddin and last but not the least, Program Officer (Education and Social Safetynet Program), BEES Mr. Nilu Kanto Pal followed by the instructions of the Deputy Assistant Director (Education and Social Safetynet Program), BEES, Ms. Shahi Masuma Akhter.

Therefore, a Dua Mahfil was organized praying for the distinguished Bangabandhu family remembering all the contributions of the family regarding the birth of our nation.

To celebrate the birth of our courageous sports personality, freedom fighter, and the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal, a chess competition was organized. 22 teachers from 7 Primary Schools of Shantiganj upazilla participated in this competition, and the winners were rewarded for their skill and dedication. Head Teacher of Shibpur Non-government Primary School Mr. Jahangir Alam emerged as the champion, followed by the Head Teacher of Inatnagar Non-government Primary School Ms. Shelly Rani Talukdar in the second place and Ms. Farida Begum from Noagaon-2 Non-government Primary School in the third place. The event concluded with heartfelt congratulatory messages and prize distribution by the guests.

The celebration of BEES on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the elder son of the greatest Bengali of all time, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was published in numerous local and online news portals; those were ‘Sylhet Protidin’ online news portal, ’52 television’ Newspaper and ‘Sunamganjer Khobor’ platform.

The celebration of martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal’s birthday by BEES not only showcased the deep respect for a prominent leader but also highlighted the dedication of fostering a nurturing educational environment for the youth of the region. Through initiatives like these, BEES continues to make a positive impact on the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy in the pursuit of knowledge and leadership.
